Judicial Biography

Judge Jeffrey J. Beigel has been twice elected to the Shelby County Probate & Juvenile Court following his original appointment by the Ohio Governor in February of 2017. He is the Administrative Judge of the court.

As a Judge he has served on various State-wide boards and committees. He currently serves on both the Ohio Judicial Conference’s Juvenile Law & Procedure Committee and its Probate Law & Procedure Committee. He is the President for the Ohio Association of Juvenile Court Judges. He also serves on the Ohio Judicial Conference’s Judicial Education Committee that develops high quality educational programs for Ohio Judges.

Judge Beigel earned his Juris Doctorate from The Ohio State University, Moritz College of Law and an Executive Master of Business Administration from The Ohio State University, Fisher College of Business.

He received his undergraduate education from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, graduating Magna Cum Laude with both a Bachelor of Philosophy and a concentration in Environmental Chemistry.

Judge Beigel has over 20 years of public service including serving as Juvenile Magistrate and as an Assistant Prosecutor handling felony hearings, juvenile delinquencies, neglect, abuse and dependency matters and the county’s civil, governmental, employment, township and appellate matters. For decades he served as Solicitor for a number of local villages.

For over 30 years he also maintained a well-respected private legal practice handling estate planning, trusts, probate, elder law, adoptions, guardianships, wrongful death, personal injury, family, custody, divorce, juvenile, criminal defense, business, commercial, real estate, title insurance and significant litigation matters.

Over the years he has been actively involved, on a pro bono basis, with many local non-profit community organizations.

His professional background makes him uniquely qualified to handle the matters that come before the Shelby County Probate & Juvenile Court.

Judge Beigel and his wife Lorie are natives of Shelby County with strong family roots in the area. For over a decade, Lorie maintained a career as an accomplished musician and now teaches music at Holy Angels Catholic School. Their two daughters are graduates of The Ohio State University with careers in the biological and computer sciences.
